Jane Siragusa is a native Californian, raised in Palos Verdes Estates. She attended San Jose State University where she received her BA in Art. She continued her studies in art at the University through the Masters Program, post-graduate studies including degrees in education, sculpture and painting. She also has post-secondary degrees in Computers and Business.
Jane has worked with all the traditional types of media, but loves using unusual combinations of pigments, inks, oils, papers, textures, collage, pastels, transparencies, stains and dyes that she creates in her paintings as well as her clay sculptures. She has been creating her Angels in mixed media collage and each Angel depicts a different Angelic inspiration and celestial musing.
Nona Jane Siragusa uses the art form “Photo Montage” in many of her Angel paintings. She uses a picture composite of many photos and a combination of partial photographs in creation of her paintings. These partial photographs are then combined with other textured papers and fabric and collaged on a flat canvas surface. Nona Jane also combines and uses other media such as oil and acrylic paint, inks, gold and silver leaf, cloth and marine varnish to produce the different layers and effects in each of her originals.
When asked why she paints Angels, Jane has said “I believe that Angels move among us and encourage us along in life by their will and intellect. I can feel them invisibly directing my actions. Sometimes Angels appear in my dreams, then I sketch or paint them as they have appeared to me.”
Now on the Central Coast, Nona Jane Siragusa lives and works in Morro Bay exhibiting her work in Gallery at Marina Square, in her private studio and in private collections
